435,198. Rectifying alternating current. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. March 21, 1934, No. 8891. Convention date, March 22, 1933. [Class 38 (ii)] In arrangements for feeding polyphase rectifiers through phase - multiplying transformers of which the primaries comprise open star windings P1 in series with delta - connected windings P11, polygon - connected choking coils D are provided on the secondary side to permit the development of harmonics necessary to prevent rise in voltage at the rectifier terminals at light loads. The secondaries may comprise two star-connected zig-zag windings S1, S11, the choke coils D being connected between their terminals. The invention may also be applied to arrangements in which the primaries are connected in series in zig-zag star. Specification 294,962, [Class 38 (ii)], is referred to.
