Abstract

435,046. Ball mills. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-, 24, B³lowsvej, Frederiksberg, near Copenhagen. March 13, 1934, No. 7949. [Class 59] In a ball mill divided by longitudinal partitions into chambers open toward the periphery of the tube, the advancing edges of the partitions are curved or provided with scoops &c. to dig into the charge to facilitate the entrance thereof into the chambers during the rotation of the mill. As shown, the mill 1 is divided by transverse partitions forming lifting chambers into three sections each of which is provided with longitudinal chambers 12-14 by partitions 4, one side 15 of which is bent outwardly to form a scoop. The ground material passes through a perforated screen into the lifting chamber where it is raised by scoops 17 and discharged into the next section through orifices 18. The partitions may be of various shapes and may be fitted in only one section of the mill. The partitions may be staggered in the relative sections to improve the balance of the mill and the partitions may be helically inclined.
