Abstract

250,504. Bouzin, O. Dec. 28, 1925. Ball and like mills.-In a tubular grinding or crushing mill with two or more tubular grinding-chambers symmetrically arranged around the axis of the mill, the tubular chambers are arranged between a common feeding-chamber at one end and a common delivery chamber at the other end, each of the tubular chambers having at its feeding end a central opening through which material is periodically fed from the feeding-chamber in the course of rotation of the mill. As shown, the feeding and delivery chambers 9, 10 are formed by two circular head-pieces 5, 6 secured to circular plates 3, 4 in which the ends of the tubes 1, 2 are rigidly mounted. The heads 5, 6 are integral with hollow journals 7, 8, and the mill is rotated by suitable gears 11, 12. The material fed through the journal 7 into the chamber 9 is picked up by shovels 13 and fed through central openings 14 in the front wall 15 of each tube. The mill shown is of the compound type, each tube being divided into compartments 16, 17, 18 by partitions 19, 20 having perforations of decreasing size, the finest perforations being in the end wall 21. The tubes may be formed in known manner by dividing a cylinder into two or more longitudinal chambers by one or more partitions parallel to the axis.
