Abstract
1,228,167. Edge-runner mills. W. A. QUANSAH. 14 June, 1968 [2 May, 1967], No. 20368/67. Heading B2A. A mill for making the African foodstuff fufu comprises a bowl, Fig. 1, housing one or more rollers 6..9, Fig. 2, in the form of gear wheels, which cooperate with a helicallytoothed anvil 2. As described, the rollers are supported by a spider 5 and loaded by a dead weight 12. The roller 6 may be driven via a shaft 10 and in turn drives the anvil by gear teeth at its outer edge or the anvil itself may be driven by independent gearing at its edge. Material is mixed with water and supplied by a hopper 24 to a point a little in advance of pinion 6 and is successively ground by the rollers 6..9 which are successively closer to the centre of the anvil. Milled material is discharged at 4. There may be more or less than four pinions which may extend over a greater proportion of the radius of the anvil. The bowl may be covered.
