Abstract

433,637. Tunnel pottery &c. ovens. MOORE, B. J., Parkfield House, Princes Road, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent. Feb. 19, 1934, No. 5507. [Class 51 (ii)] In a tunnel oven primarily for pottery, the temperature of the main heating zone 10 which is at a substantial distance from the entrance to the tunnel, is maintained mainly by combustion of fuel (e.g. in muffles 13), while in the secondary or entry heating zone, the heat is maintained mainly by electric resistances 18 adapted to heat this zone throughout its entire crosssection and situated at a relatively low level on the walls of the tunnel. In a modification, there may be three parallel tunnels, the central one heated entirely by electric resistances and forming the entry zone and the two outer heated partly by combustion and partly by electric resistances. Specification 435,452 is referred to.
