Abstract

433,612. Valves. JUNKERS & CO., GES., 35, Junkersstrasse, Dessau, Anhalt, Germany. Jan. 18, 1934, No. 1765. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1933. [Class 135] In a gas-heated apparatus the main gas valve 2 is actuated by a diaphragm 1, the upper side of which is subjected to gas pressure through the passage 22 and the lower side to pressure through the passage 21 which also provides gas for the pilot jet which has a thermally controlled valve 23. The gas to the passages 21, 22 is controlled by a floating valve 34 subjected to the pressures existing before and after the valve 5, situated in the main gas passage and actuated by a diaphragm 3 exposed to pressures on either side of a restriction 12 in the water pipe to the heater. The orifices 28 controlled by the valve 5 are formed in the main gas cock 37 and the area of the orifices 28 may be controlled by rotating the cock 37, the maximum opening being determined by the adjustable stop 40. The areas of the orifices 28 are also adjustable by the sleeve 35 actuated by the pinion 50. The valve 5 is formed with a seat to close the main gas passage and the port 31 leading to the underside of the valve 34 is disconnected from the gas pressure when the valve 5 is closed. Specification 433,674 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 (Cancelled), wherein the main gas valve 2 is controlled by a diaphragm 1 exposed on its underside to gas pressure in the main 18. The maximum opening of the valve is controlled by a stop 4 connected to a spring-loaded diaphragm 3 exposed to pressures on either side of the restriction 12 in the water pipe. Fig. 2 (Cancelled), shows a double beat main gas valve 2, 2<1> connected to a diaphragm 1, the sides of which are exposed to pressures on either side of the throttle passage 17 in the gas pipe 18. The diaphragm 1 is connected by links to a piston 20 mounted with clearance in the water supply pipe 14. The amount of water passing varies the effective force of the piston 20 which loads the diaphragm 1. The Specification also comprises the subject-matter of Specifications 432,263 and 433,674. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
