Abstract
232,304. British Area Regulators, Ltd., and Lindsay, T. Jan. 9, 1924. Pressure-reducing valves; closure members, dual closure.-A combined piston and lift valve member particularly suitable for use in connection with control apparatus of the kind described in Specification 116,074, has a lost-motion connection with an actuating spindle which carries a pilot valve member adapted to co-operate with a seat on the main valve. The piston 4 is provided with water grooves and works in a liner 2 provided with ports 6 the lower parts of which are triangular in section. An annular chamber or chambers 7 arranged between the ports 6 and the Eft closure surfaces 3, 5 and is connected by a port (not shown) to the back of the piston. The pilot valve member 10 carried by the spindle 11 co-operates with a seat 8 to control the connection 9 between the back of the piston and the outlet side of the valve. A spring 16 is arranged between the main valve and an adjustable abutment 17 on the spindle to prevent back lash. Specification 185,506 also is referred to.
