Addition to 337,236, [Class 64 (iii)] [Class 64 (iii)] In heat-exchange apparatus of the type wherein fins project from two parallel walls tangential to the tubes, the latter being assembled to form a stack, the fins or the tangential walls are so formed or disposed that the passages therebetween have a progressively varying direction. In examples of the first formation or disposition, the fins 1, Fig. 2, on a single tube are of zig-zag form ; or straight fins on a stack of the tubes are disposed to give the same form as in Fig. 3. In modifications, the fins may be of wave form. In examples of the second formation or disposition, the tangential walls 2, Fig. 6, for the fins are formed asymmetrically to the axes of the tubes and are inclined inwardly or outwardly ; or the disposition of the tangential walls 2, Fig. 7, for the fins is in the opposite direction for each of two successive pairs of fins. In the curved formation of the tangential walls, the tubes of successive rows may be offset from one another. The profile of the straight or curved fins may be slightly tapering, with parallel sides, of multi-angle form or with curved parts between the fins.
