Abstract
451,028. Gilled tubes for feedwater heaters &c. ZANDER, H. V., 20, Erstagatan, Stockholm. Jan. 28, 1935, No. 2750. [Class 64 (iii)] The superposed sinuous tubes of a feedwater heater &c. are provided with rectangular fins 24 corrugated in the direction of flow of the flue gases over them and of increasing thickness from their tips to their roots. The fins are aligned to form ducts 26 and their width is substantially equal to the vertical spacing of the tubes. The depth between the crests of adjacent corrugations is from one-sixth to one-tenth of the length of a corrugation, and the axial distance between adjacent fins is not more than twice the depth of the corrugations. The superposed tubes are connected by bends 12 having rectangular flanges 18 which form the side walls of the flue. In a modification, both the tubes and the fins are staggeredly arranged, and the tubes may be of the form shown in Fig. 9.
