Abstract
363,083. Plate heat exchangers ; heating feedwater. HOLLER, G. F., 43, Hindenburgstrasse, Emden, Germany. Nov. 10, 1930, No. 33814. [Classes 64 (i) and 64 (iii).] Groups of pipes a. for an economizer or other tubular heat exchanger, in which each pipe has its wall integral with that of its neighbour in the group, are arranged so that only longitudinal passages j'of approximately uniform cross section obtain between adjacent groups. If the groups do not have flat sides they are offset to produce a wavy passage of uniform cross section. In Fig. 7 this is done by offsetting both the groups and their end flanges c ; in Fig. 4 the groups are offset with regard to their end flanges only. Hollow members m, serving to heat air or water or supplying compressed air jets to remove soot from the tube a, are inserted to reduce the wider passage thus formed between adjacent groups to the width of passages j. A header plate d fits on the end of the group and has flanges e forming a groove f for packing g with the flanges c.
