Abstract

432,520. Hinged lids for cartons. WINSTON, G., 3, Union Place, Curtain Road, and PIORNIK, L., 63, Parkhurst Road, Holloway, both in London. Jan. 19, 1935, No. 1864. [Class 18] An oblong or square paper, cardboard, &c., case or carton for cigarettes, cigars, matches, &c., comprises a body 1, Fig. 12, made from the blank shown in Fig. 7 by glueing or otherwise securing the side flaps together, and a double hinged lid 3, 3, mounted on a sliding band 2 encircling the body and made by uniting two blanks such as shown in Fig. 8, flexible strips 4 connecting the lids to the body so that the lids are opened and closed by sliding the band. Stops 5a, 6, Fig. 12 may be provided to keep the lids closed; in some cases the tongue 5<a> may be omitted, tongue 6 engaging a slot 5 ; tongue 6 may also engage a slot in the top edge of the body on a tongue thereon. The stop may be formed on one side only of the box. The lids may overlap or exactly meet. In a modification only one lid is hinged to the band.
