Abstract
162,948. Allen, G. June 3, 1920. Contents, facilitating access to; partitional and cellular boxes; boxes made from special blanks.- A cigarette &c. carton made up from a blank is provided with flat partitions such as k, Fig. 2, projecting rearwardly from the front, and has an opening e<1> in the outer fold e of the bottom through which the finger can be inserted to raise the inner bottom fold d which is hingedly attached to the back of the carton, thus exposing the upper ends of the contained cigarettes &c. The part e is secured to tab pieces h by a tongue-andslot arrangement as shown, or by adhesive. More than a single pair of portions k may be provided, for example partitions k<2>, Fig. 5, formed by suitably folding the front may be provided, or where the carton is deep the front may be cut to furnish partitions k<3>, Fig. 6, of considerable depth. The flap portion a takes behind the front of the carton below the line n, or may engage in an horizontal slit in the front.
