[Class 14 (ii)] In the production of yeast, aeration is effected by introducing air as large bubbles and then finely subdividing it by positive means. As shown, air is delivered by a pipe C below a cap D in which there are holes b, say eight in number, for the escape of the air. Above the cap D is a similar rotating cap E which may have 25 holes. Only a small quantity of air is required, so that there is little loss of alcohol. Additional agitation may be effected by propellers. Two or more aeration devices may be provided. Specification 423,331 is referred to.
