[Class 14 (ii)] In the aeration of fermentation liquids in the manufacture of yeast with or without the production of alcohol, a horizontally directed helical streaming motion is imparted to the liquid by mechanical devices such as a propeller or screw, so that the air introduced into the liquid as a result of the motion is prevented from escaping as long as possible. In the apparatus shown the air introduced directly from the atmosphere by the propeller s into the fermentation vat g is supplemented by air drawn in through a conduit l.
