455,292. Distributing gases in liquids. HANAK, J., Pilsen, Czecho Slovakia. April 16, 1935, No. 11757. [Class 14 (i)] For distributing gases in liquids, particularly for aerating fermenting worts, the liquid is withdrawn from its container, passed at a speed of at least four metres per second to a device where it entrains air or gas, circulated at a speed of at least one metre per second through a long, coiled, pipe, and returned to the container through a distributing device, the gas being forced into the liquid during its circulation through the pipe. It is stated that this arrangement distributes the gas in very small bubbles. As shown, wort is drawn from the bottom of the vat 1 by a pump 2, and forced, by way of a cooler 3, through a coiled pipe 4. Air from a pipe 5 is drawn by an injector arrangement into the coil 4 under regulation of a valve 6. The air-wort mixture is returned to the vat through a distributing pipe system 7. If desired, the cooler may be arranged within the vat.
