Abstract

480,570. Alcoholic fermentation. DEUTSCHES REICH REICHSMONOPOLVERWALTUNG FUR BRANNTWEIN, and KARSCH, W. June 7, 1937, No. 15689. [Class 14 (ii)] In a continuous alcoholic fermentation, the total quantity of yeast at the exit end of the fermentation system is led through a separator or filter and thence to a mixing device forming the first part of the fermentation system, where it is mixed with liquor to be fermented. A chamber in which the fermentation is continued may be interposed between the mixer and the separator. Preferably the fermenting liquid traverses the system only once and on leaving the separator is led to a still. As shown, yeast leaving the separator 13 is led through pipe 5 into a mixer 4 provided with a stirrer 6 and impact devices 7 where it meets molasses from tank 1 and is there fermented. It is then led via an overflow 8 into a container 9, provided with a stirrer 11 and guide plates 10, where fermentation continues and thence to the yeast separator. The separated liquid which, under specified conditions, contains 5À16 per cent of alcohol, runs through pipe 16 to a still.
