Abstract

[Class 100 (i)] Delivery apparatus.-In the delivery apparatus of a sheet-printing machine a detachable extension for use on the jogging-members is provided to permit the delivery to function with smaller sheets than the normal. this extension comprising a guide plate or the like secured to and supported from the jogging-member by means of a suction or vacuum disc or the like. As shown, the extension comprises a rod a carrying at one end a metal guide plate c for the sheets, and secured at the other end to a suction disc of rubber or the like. The disc is of saucer shape with a flat base b, and a rim b<2> having circumferential grooves therein. At each side of the base b are circular metal discs d through which passes the rod a. A threaded extension of the rod a carries a nut a<1> which holds the discs d against the flared end of the rod. A metal cover e mounted on the rim b<2> is clear of the nut a<1>, and a fitting f, in the form of a nut engaging the screwed part of the rod, bears against a boss on the cover e. The fitting f is recessed to permit the entry of the plain part of the rod a. In mounting the extension upon the jogging- member x the fitting f is screwed outwardly to permit the rod to pass inwardly of the cover e when the suction disc is applied to the jogging- member, whereupon the fitting is then screwed inwardly to draw the rod outwardly to create the required suction. The guide plate c is a U-shaped member engaged in an adjustable manner by means of a slotted hole on a threaded extension of the rod a. The rod a may be adjusted in length to a limited extent by means of the fitting f. The fitting f may be replaced by a boss of similar form, a pin on the rod a being engaged with a slot in the face of the boss, or adapted to bear against the face of the latter, when the boss is turned about the rod ; a sleeve on the rod a may determine the limit of distance between the guide plate and the suction disc.
