Abstract
409,304. Gas meters. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., 51, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, and SIMPSON, S., Meresyke, Exmouth. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29761. [Class 54.] An apparatus for use in mounting a gas meter diaphragm b in its seating ring, pan, or case a comprises a plunger d carrying a platen e which has on its upper surface a series of bolts e<1> carrying springs e<2> which press a plate c on to the outer edge of the diaphragm and hold it in contact with a flange a<1> on the case a. The retaining force applied to the diaphragm thus increases as the plunger is moved downwardly to stretch the diaphragm. The pressure of the springs e<2> may be varied by adjusting nuts e<3> on the bolts e<1>. The diaphragm may be secured in the case a, when stretched, by a clamping ring f which is pressed into the case by a plate g on a sleeve slidable on the plunger d. In another construction the plate g is dispensed with, a clamping ring placed between the plate c and the diaphragm being pressed or spun over a flat outwardly extending flange on the case when the diaphragm has been stretched. Other forms of flanges and clamping rings may be employed. Specification 279,550, [Class 54], is referred to.
