[Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] An expansible means for applying force, e.g. for use as a lifting jack or for discharging tipwagons, comprises rigid heads 5, 6 connected by a body 4 of rubberized fabric &c., air being pumped into or released from the vessel so formed, through a valve or valves 8. The device is without guides and one end is free. The ends of the fabric may be thickened, and may be received between the rigid ends 5, 6 and rings 10 bolted or riveted to them. The device may be attached e.g. to the underside of a vehicle axle by clamps 7.
