Abstract
430,702. Cigarette-making machines. SKODA WORKS, PLZEN, 37N, Jungmarmova, Prague. Nov. 22, 1934, No. 33617. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1933. [Class 130] Mouthpiece strips 20 to be stuck to a uniformly - moving web 22 of cigarette paper are severed by a knife 14 from a web fed between rollers 2, 3. A support 9, flush with and reciprocating between fixed guides 8, 21 is mounted on a slide 10 driven through the engagement of a pin 11 with the edge or groove of a cam 13 driven by the shaft 6. The support and the guides have interengaging edges. The knife 14 is mounted on the slide and rises and falls due to the engagement of a roller 16 with a camgroove 17. A presser 19 mounted on the knife-support grips the severed strip which moves forward into contact with, and at the same speed as the paper 22 to which adhesive has been applied. A cylindrical brush 23 driven by a rack or segment first presses the forward edge of the strip against the paper, and then reverses to treat the trailing edge in a similar manner. Linkwork may replace the cam 13.
