Abstract
430,135. Sleeve couplings. SERTILLANGE, M. A., 48, Rue du Chateau, Brest, FinistÚre, France. Oct. 16, 1934, Nos. 29634 and 29635. Convention dates, Oct. 16, 1933 and Oct. 6, 1934. [Class 38 (i)] A coupling for stranded cables C, C<1>, Fig. 1, comprises a double-coned member B by which the strands of the cables are spread, and a pair of conical nuts A, A<1> that co-operate with right and left-hand threads on the member B and clamp the strands thereto. The nuts are secured to the cables by screws V and the member B is turned by a tool inserted in a hole O to tighten the nuts. An insulating sleeve D with packing glands P and a screw cap E encloses the joint. In a modification the member B, Fig. 2, is not screw-threaded, the members A, A<1> being tightened by being connected to one another by the screwed sleeve D. The joint is sealed and insulated by leaving the cable insulation I intact so that it is compressed by the members A, A<1>, and a rubber ring may be inserted between the opposed faces of the members A, A<1>. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a coupling having one end coned, the other end being formed as a connector bar. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
