Abstract

430,125. Cutting tobacco. BECO MASCH. FABR. GES., 7, Riesaer Strasse, and HEIDELBERG, V., 2, Heinrich-Schutzstrasse, both in Dresden, Germany. July 9, 1934, No. 20094. [Class 5 (i)] [See also Group VI] A cleansing fluid such as water, steam, or a conditioning liquid is supplied to the cutters during the operation of cutting tobacco. Tobacco leaves are fed by means of a shoot 5 to a cutting machine, comprising intermeshing, annular, rotary cutter discs 3, 4 mounted in a hopper 1 through the neck 2 of which the shreds are discharged, clearing members 7, 8 being provided. Fluid is fed to the cutters through nozzles 10, Fig. 1, or a liquid fed thereto by means of rollers 12, 14, Fig. 2, the rollers 12 being supplied from troughs 11. Alternatively, liquid may be fed by dripping devices or wipers.
