Abstract
429,390. Heat-dissipating means for electric lamps. BENJAMIN ELECTRIC, Ltd., Tariff Road, Tottenham, London- (Assignees of Westberg, V. L. ; 5353, Cuyler Avenue, Chicago, U.S.A.) March 2, 1934, No. 6735. Convention date, March 3, 1933. [Class 75 (iv)] In an electric lamp comprising a reflector or other member which becomes heated by the light source and which it is desired to cool, a metallic heat-conducting member is arranged between and in contact with the heated member and the lamp casing and is so shaped as to permit air to pass between them. In the form shown, a corrugated ring-like member 12 made of very thin aluminium is supported by friction between the glass reflector 4 and the lamp casing 1. The member 12 is initially of the cylindrical form shown in Fig. 8, and in use it becomes substantially conical and is distorted at 12<a> and 14, Fig. 9, to form relatively large areas in contact with the lamp casing and reflector respectively. In a modification the member 12 is formed from a blank 16 which is initially curved, as shown in Fig. 3.
