365,740. Projectors. WESTING- HOUSE LAMP CO., Bloomfield, New Jersey, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Lorenz, C. F. ; 319, North Arlington Avenue, East Orange, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Dec. 13, 1930, No. 37657. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1929. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (ii).] Electric lamp bulbs.-In a light projector an incandescent electric lamp is formed with a bulb portion 2 and an elongated neck 2 A, both of which are immersed in water, a solution of a copper salt, a solution of alum, or other heatabsorbing fluid 4 contained within a separate outer casing, at least part of which is formed of transparent material. The lower portion 3 of the casing may be made of blue glass suspended from a metal portion 13 which is provided with a removable insulating closure block 10 and is supported by a bracket 22. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the upper and lower portions of the casing are provided with, an outlet 17 and an inlet 19 connected by pipes 18, 20 to a cooling means 6 which may be cooled by means of a honeycomb radiator, with or without an air blast, or by means of coils 8 through which ice water, brine solution, or other cooling fluid is adapted to flow. An external reflector 5 may be carried by a bracket 21 and the bulb portion of the lamp may be recessed as at 23 adjacent or remote from the reflector 5. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the casing is provided with a baffle 25 which conducts the fluid into radially arranged air-cooled circulatory tubes 24 made of copper, aluminium, or other metal of high heat-conductivity. For use with a downwardly directed external reflector the lower part of the baffle 25 may be made of glass or other transparent material. In a further modification the upper portion of the casing is enlarged to provide for the circulation of the fluid and is formed integrally with relatively thin air-cooled radial fins.
