Abstract
411,170. Projector lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, LUCAS, G. S. C., 75, Eastlands Road, and MAYO, C. G., 17, Alexandra Road, both in Rugby. March 13, 1933, No. 7609. [Class 75 (iv).] In a projector lamp, the greater part of the radiant heat from the light source which is not projected in the light beam is directed by a reflector on to a surface from which the heat can be readily dissipated. In the form shown, the filament 2 is arranged approximately at the focus of a substantially parabolic reflector 1 whereby its radiant heat is directed on to a black body in the form of a truncated inverted cone 6 having radiating fins 7 and arranged below the lamp bulb in the annular space between a polished metal bulb support 4 and a chimney 13. In the plane of the filament, apertures are provided in the reflector 1 and in the chimney 13 to allow the beam of light to be projected by a reflector 10 and a lens 9. A cylindrical reflector 5 may be secured to the outer edge of the reflector 1, and the lamp bulb may be fitted with a cap 11 having a flared part 12 extending into the chimney 13. The black body may be replaced by a tray of water or by a container filled with a substance capable of reversible chemical change.
