Abstract
429,118. Greenhouses &c. WALFORD, R. S., Mitre Works, Battle, Sussex. Dec. 23, 1933, No. 36224. [Class 20 (i)] A greenhouse, garage, or like structure has a number of transverse frames 3 each comprising T-section bars the webs 2 of which are cut back to allow the flange extensions 6 to be turned over to form abutting faces, a channelshaped ridge member 8 embracing the abutting flanges and being bolted thereto. Longitudinal base members 16 may be slotted to receive the webs of the bars 3, or the lower ends of the webs may be cut back to seat on the bottom flange of the base, the flange extension 14 of the bars being turned under the bottom flange of the base. Bolts 15 hook into the bar webs and have nuts to secure the base members. Longitudinal spacing bars 27 of angle form may be secured to the frames by bolts 28. The ridge and base members may be in sections coupled end to end by butt straps. Corner castings 21, Fig. 7 have faces 22, 23 to receive the base members, and faces 24, 25 to receive flange extensions 20 on the bars of the end frames, the end bars being of general #-section. Sheets of glass or or opaque material, 32 may be fitted between the webs at the top of the frames, so as to overhang glass &c. sheets 29 on the sides, longitudinal strips of thin sheet metal, e.g. copper, 30 locking the sheets together. The base members are flanged at 31. Filling material may be provided, on which the glass &c. seats.
