428,079. Cable-end sleeves. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl- Ufer, Berlin) Nov. 7, 1933, No. 30979. Convention date, Nov. 7, 1932. [Class 36] A cable-end sleeve comprises an elastic tube 3 fitted over the tapered insulation 2 of the cable end and having its ends secured to ferrules 5, 6 which are each provided with a deformable flange over which the end of the tube is folded and within which it is subsequently secured by pressing. The ferrules 5, 6 are secured respectively to the cable sheath 9 and cable end 10, preferably with the interposition of sockets 7, 8 which are soldered to the ferrules. The tube 3, which may have thickened or beaded ends 4 for engagement by the ferrules, may be of oilresisting elastic material, such as polymers of acrylic acid or its derivatives, or polyvinyl compounds, or the tube may be of rubber and provided with a coating of oil - resting material. The tube 3 is protected against internal oil pressure by sheath 11 which may be reinforced by a braiding 12 and which may be spaced from the tube 3 to allow for expansion of the cable impregnating compound. The socket 8 or ferrule 6 may form a protection against corona.
