Abstract

427,103. Projectiles. NASEBY, T. W., 99, Carlisle Road, Grimesthorpe, Sheffield. Oct. 11, 1933, No. 27996. [Class 9 (i)] A casing 12 is cramped to the bottom of an ordinary shell 4 and contains grapnels 9 and a small powder charge 10 adapted to be fired by a fuze 7 extending from the usual time fuze at the nose of the shell, another fuze 8 leading back from the powder charge 10 to a front detonator 3 for the main shell. When the powder charge is fired, the casing 12 is burst and the grapnels extend out. Subsequently, the detonator 3 fires the main shell. The grapnel lines are attached to strikers 5, which are released if the grapnel lines are torn off, and at once fire the detonator 3. Specification 11757/13, [Class 9 (i)], is referred to.
