Abstract

423,515. Cooling milk &c. PESSELL, R. C., 4, Widcombe Crescent, Bath. Aug. 4, 1933, No. 21894. [Class 64 (iii)] Apparatus for cooling milk &c. in dairies &c. comprises a number of superposed hollow elements 1 each in the form of a distorted annulus providing a helical path on its upper surface for the flow of the milk or other liquid to be cooled, delivered through a tap 5 from a receptacle 4 supported on the central wall 3 of the uppermost element. Cooling water is admitted to and discharged from the elements, in parallel or in series, through connections 7, 8, and the milk &c. is directed by a lip 6 from the end of one section of the channel to the next. The milk &c. channel may be curved transversely, and provided with baffles, Fig. 2, or undulations presenting an interrupted and preferably tortuous passage for the milk &c. The elements are readily separable for cleaning.
