[Class 28 (i)] [See also Group XI] A roasting device comprises a casing 1 divided into three roasting chambers I, II, III by partitions 2 having heating elements 8 incorporated therein, an upper chamber 10 containing mechanism for rotating the meat carriers being arranged above the roasting chambers. Air passes upwardly through the device entering by apertures 6, thereby cooling the fat in drip pans 5 arranged below the roasting chambers and becoming preheated, and leaving by an outlet pipe 11 ; the flow of air may be regulated by circular slides 17. The mechanism for rotating the meat carriers may be variable both as regards gear ratio and direction of rotation. The device may have double side walls 25, 26 so that air may circulate therethrough to insulate the device. The side walls may be of glass. In a modification Fig. 3, the partitions 2 are replaced by heating elements 28 extending substantially across the device ; the heating elements 28 may comprise electric resistance wires arranged in the form of a number of Z's between supports 30, 31 respectively. In this case the central meat carrier may be dispensed with so that baskets 29 may be slung between the supports 30, 31. The meat carriers, which may be shaped as shown in Fig. 3, may be hung from the driving mechanism and rest on supporting elements on the base of the roasting chambers.
