420,027. Grilling &c. apparatus ; roasting-jacks &c. WALTERSPIEL, A., 4. Maximilianstrasse, Munich, Germany. Sept. 4, 1933, No. 24500. [Class 28 (i)] A roasting apparatus comprises a roasting chamber 2 containing one or more vertical rotating food carriers 10 each surrounded by heating elements 11; a drip pan is arranged beneath each carrier and is cooled bv a current of cold air entering the roasting chamber through slots in the base of the apparatus, the entering air at the same time becoming warmed. The air current may be controlled by adjustable outlets 13 in the removable lid 12. The heating elements may be electric and may extend the whole height of the chamber. The food carriers may be shaped as shown so that the supporting members will not pierce the meat and the mechanism for rotating them may be placed in a chamber 1 beneath the roasting chamber 2. The sides of the roasting chamber may be of glass and may be arranged to open to give access to the apparatus. Basting appliances may be incorporated in the apparatus. Basket-like receptacles may be provided above the rotating food carriers so that when meat is being roasted on the food carriers other food may be cooked in the fatty atmosphere of the chamber.
