Abstract

355,122. Plate heat exchangers. JACQUES, A., 68, Rue de Trazegnies, Monceau-sur-Sambre, Belgium.. Nov. 4,. 1930, No. 33136. Convention date, Jan. 2.. [Class 64 (iii).] Apparatus for cooling beers or fluids in general comprises a box-like chamber, Fig. 3, having ribs 2, Fig. 2, of multiple cross-arm form to provide tortuous channels 20 for the fluid, which may beadmitted and discharged through connections 9, 10 in the box or in its cover. The ribs are of tapering section and the junctions of the ribs with the box are rounded to facilitate cleaning. The apparatus may have undulating baffles between the cross-arm baffles to provide separate channels for two fluids as shown in Fig. 6,. The box and cover-may be ribbed as at 12 or fluted externally to increase heat transfer. Several elements connected in series may be cooled in an iced chamber. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also baffles of undulating form. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
