[Class 7 (iv)] [See also Group XXVIII] The time of ignition or of fuel-injection is regulated by the action on a spring loaded piston of the pressure of an engine driven lubricating oi or liquid fuel pump Movement of the pis ton is opposed by a light spring x during idling, and at heavie: loads by a stronger spring x<1> when the clearance h<111> between the inner and outer piston members y, z, has been taken up. At higher engine speeds the fluid pressure is reduced by the opening of additional return passages f or by an adjustable throttle valve in the passage f. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the delivery side of the pump may be connected to a bellows variation in the volume of which adjusts the magneto armature or the time of fuel injection. In the latter case the passage divides beyond a narrow orifice so that a sudden increase in delivery by the injection pump withdraws fuel from a bellows and retards the time of injection. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
