Abstract
422,659. Directive wireless signalling. PINTSCH AKT.-GES., J., 71, Andreasstrasse, Berlin, and KOHL, K., 51, Burgbergstrasse, Erlangen, both in Germany. Feb. 5, 1934, No. 3721. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1933. [Class 40 (v)] An ultra-short-wave generator 2, Fig. 1, suitable for radio "light house" signalling is located inside a hollow metal cylinder 3 with one or more apertures 4 to emit a directive beam of radiation. This is keyed or interrupted by one or more baffle-plates 5, which may be rotated at different speeds. The current supply lines are fitted with a foursector disc 11 to prevent high - frequency leakage. In Fig. 2, the valve - generator 6 is enclosed in a spherical reflector 7, having an aperture fitted with a polarizing grid 9, rotatable about the axis 10. The radius of the reflecting cylinder or sphere is a multiple of half the wavelength for a magnetic dipole, or an odd multiple of quarter wavelengths for an electric dipole.
