422,424. Brick &c. kilns. SHERLOCK, J., Ashfield House, Conisbrough, near Rotherham. July 27, 1933, No. 21103. [Class 51 (ii)] A continuous kiln comprises two parallel lines of chambers a with dampered connections c to one or other of two underground stack flues b, controllable openings e in the partition walls between adjacent chambers, a hot air flue m in the wall separating the two rows of chambers, and outside underground auxiliary flues h for exhausting moistureladen air from chambers in which drying is being effected and discharging it to atmosphere independently of the flues b and the main stack d. A chamber filled with green goods is put into communication on the one hand with the hot air flue m, and on the other with the adjacent flue h by means of a removable pipe inserted into the opening a<1>, and hot air is drawn through the chamber by the fan i.
