Abstract

421,603. Television. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, and SCHLESINGER, K., 39, Friedrichstrasse, Friedrichshagen, both in Berlin. June 26, 1933, Nos. 18120 and 18121. Convention dates, June 27, 1932 and Aug. 12, 1932. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] Distortion due to current between a cathoderay and deflecting-plates is eliminated (a) by reducing the resistance of the circuit of the deflecting plates to such a value that the potential developed across it by the leakage current is less than 1 per cent of the maximum deflection potential, or (b) by making the potential of the deflecting plates at most equal to that of the cathode rays, or (c) by placing in front of the deflecting plates 2 an openwork screening grid 11, which may be cylindrical or flat and negatively biassed or conductively connected to the earthed deflecting-plate. When a diaphragm with a negative potential relatively to the anode is provided between the two pairs of deflecting-plates, Fig. 5, the diaphragm is so dimensioned that in the position of maximum deflection the ray is still sufficiently away from the edge to avoid edge field distortion. To avoid image-form distortion from differential deflecting-action by the second pair of deflecting plates 33, 34, due to the ray leaving the first pair at speeds varying with the deflection, the second pair of plates are tilted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also energizing the deflecting- plates in opposite phase. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
