Abstract

<PICT:0419647/III/1> In apparatus for the electrical precipitation of suspended particles from gases, the chamber 4 containing the supporting insulator 2 of the high tension electrode system is separated from the precipitation chamber 1 by an intermediate chamber 5. The electrode support 3 passes from the chamber 5 into the housing 4 through a gas seal labyrinth arrangement comprising a tubular member 6 surmounted by a hood 7. An opening 8 for the admission of scavenging gas may be provided at the base of the housing 4. Any condensate in the chamber 5 will collect on the hood 7 and run off on to the floor 10 from which it may be drained.
