Abstract

290,324. Lanyon, T. S., and Nolcken, Woldemar George, Baron. Jan. 11, 1927. Spectroscopes.-Leakage of gases, vapours, or volatile liquids containing chlorine or other halogens or compounds thereof is detected by drawing the gas &c. through a pipe from the vicinity of the leak to a device for giving a visual indication of the gas &c. such as a lamp of the clear Bunsen-type flame which draws the air containing the gas by the suction of a chimney made of copper or copper alloy; at a rotary blower a spirit lamp, and a disc of copper wire gauge fixed to the mica cylinder may also be used. In both cases a flame is produced as in Beilstein's test.
