419,467. Delivering measured quantities of liquids. DEWHURST, H. B., MOLYNEUX, J., DEWHURST, H. H., and HOON, F., Hecla Works, Bamber Bridge, Preston. July 15, 1933, No. 20050. [Class 106 (v).] Apparatus for delivering measured quantities of hot tar, bitumen or other liquids comprises a cylinder b with controllable inlet and outlet valves a<1>, i<1> and a movable piston c actuated by screw mechanism d on the piston rod c<1>, the protuding end of which slides in a slotted encasing tube h mounted in brackets, there being also a pointer g projecting through the slot in the tube and adapted to move over a longitudinal scale g<1>. Liquid is admitted through the valve a<1> until the measuring compartment is filled as indicated by an overflow from a drip pipe b<1> which is provided with a removable plug b<2> for cleaning purposes. An air port b<3> is provided in the rear wall of the cylinder. The cylinder may be lagged to prevent loss of heat.
