Abstract

Fixed-chamber apparatus which may be used for filling lard-packets consists of a cylinder a containing a free-piston p, and control mechanism for admitting liquid under pressure to one end of the cylinder while simultaneously discharging the contents of the other end. A four-way valve k may be used to change over the supply and discharge passages of the two ends. Variation of the quantity measured is obtained by adjusting the stop d or by using a larger or smaller piston. The discharge nozzle is fitted with a spring-loaded valve o for preventing drip. An even temperature may be maintained by jacketing the cylinder.
