Abstract
275,153. Soc. Hardoll. July 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Liquid meters.-Relates to an automatic apparatus comprising two measuring- chambers, one of which fills while the other discharges, and having a quick-action throw-over of the valves whereby the filling and discharging of the two chambers may be alternated. The liquid-supply pipe o delivers to a cross-pipe k whence it passes by one or other of the single-ported tubular slide valves e, moving in vertical tubes f, into the appropriate measuring- chamber a or b. These chambers are normally open at their upper ends. to which is led a supply of compressed air to aid discharge. The valve of the other chamber is at this time positioned to discharge through the second cross-pipe l to the delivery p, the two valves being connected by links m and a lever n pivoted at u and controlled by a snap-action consisting of an arm q on the lever, to the extremity of which is pivoted a spring-controlled arm r, adapted to be thrown over rapidly when the lever turns so as to bring it against a fixed projection t. Movement of the lever occurs when the filling of a chamber causes the float valve c, d at its upper end to close and thus produce a reaction on the tubular charging-valve due to the pressure of the incoming liquid. This forces the valve down, and reversal of the operation takes place.
