Abstract

336,975. Sturtevant, S. H. July 16, 1929. Divided on 336,653, [Class 125 (ii), Bottles &c., Filling &c.]. Fixed-chamber apparatus.-Relates to devices for filling bottles &c. with measured quantities of liquid of the type comprising an inlet valve between the liquid container and the measuring chamber and a slidably mounted outlet valve operated by the upward movement of the bottle. According to the invention the measuring chamber 1 is provided with a rotary inlet valve 8 which is operated by cams 18 on either side of the machine through a rack-and-pinion gearing. The outlet valve 31 is operated by the engagement of a bottle with a resilient washer 24 attached to a transverse rod 28 which passes through the valve stem 30. The washer 24 has grooves 41 to permit the egress of air. A stem 34 on the upper side of the valve 31 operates a valve 36 to admit air under pressure to the measuring chamber. The upper plate 2 of the measuring chamber has ports 7 which register with ports in the valve 8 to admit the liquid. Specification 336,653, [Class 125 (ii), Bottles &c., Filling &c.], is referred to.
