Stroke , varying; measuring devices; pipes. -In apparatus for delivering measured quantities of liquid, in which the liquid is supplied by a reciprocating pump to two measuring vessels which are alternately filled and emptied by adjustment of a rotary cock device common to both, the cock is controlled by a hit-and-miss tappet device actuated by the piston rod of the pump. The cock 10 is provided with two sets of passages, one set (Fig. 3) connecting the supply passage 15 alternately to inlet passages 16, 17 to the two vessels, whilst another set (Fig. 3<a>) controls the outlets 18, 19 so that one vessel is emptied whilst the other is being filled. To rock the cock, a tilting tappet 5 on a rod 1, which may be the piston rod or be operated thereby, engages alternately lugs 11, 12 on a pair of rods 3, 4 slidable in guides 2 and connected by a cord or chain 7 passing over a pulley 8 secured to the spindle 9 of the cock. The tappet 5, provided with a base 14, co-operates with a stop member 13 on the rod and is set to central position at the upper limit of the stroke by contact with an abutment 2, Fig. 2. On the down stroke, the tappet engages the uppermost lug 11 or 12 and, after being tilted thereby to allow the other lug to pass, carries the rod 3 or 4 with it for the remainder of the stroke. The amount of liquid supplied depends upon the pump stroke which may be regulated by adjustment of the upper abutment 2 or by insertion of an alternative abutment 20.
