Abstract

Waste water is purified by the precipitating action of ferric hydroxide produced in the water from metallic iron by addition of carbon dioxide and subsequent treatment with oxygen. Carbon dioxide which is mixed with oxygen may be used. The carbon dioxide is released by the oxygen and may be used in closed circuit. The water after separation of the flocculated sludge may be further purified biologically.
