[Class 46.] Oil is admitted to the lower compartment of a filter 10 through a pipe 31 opening into the central space of a spiral baffle 22. As the oil flows spirally impurities settle to the bottom of the hemispherical chamber 16. The oil subsequently passes through apertures 20 near the periphery of a plate 19, which supports the baffle, and through an aperture 18 in the centre of a plate 17 and then upwardly through the filtering-medium 15.
