Abstract
263,021. Mortensen, F. May 18, 1926. Density separators.-A centrifugal separator or clarifier has a bowl a, Fig. 1, containing a number of inverted caps f, f<1> - - or like domed containers, which divide the bowl into a number of compartments. Tubes k, k<1> - - provide means of communication between the compartments and the end of each tube is arranged as near to the centre of the bowl as possible. The liquid enters by the central tube d, passes through the compartments in succession, and leaves by the passage o. Dirt is deposited in the compartments but does not interfere with the passage of the fluid until the bowl is filled. The cups f, f<1> have flanges at their lower edges which are all sealed by tightening rings h, h'. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the outer cup f<1> has a perforated wall and may be lined with filtering material. The liquid passes from one compartment to the next through the opening k<4>. The ring h<3> serves to secure the cup flanges and the bowl.
