Abstract

Separating appts. for withdrawing liquid hydrocarbons from water at the bottom of holds, and from industrial waters consists of a vessel divided into two compartments A and B closed by a removable cover, the compartment A extending over the height of the vessel and having a third of its volume, and a separator in compartment B for separating the hydrocarbon drops suspended in the water, and directing the collected drops towards its top. The separator consists of two large diameter cones inverted onto each other at the top of the lower cone, and a supply tube discharging at the central point.
