Abstract

417,851. Driving - belts. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and CARTER, A. E., Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire. March 13, 1933, No. 7510. [Class 80 (i).] A driving-belt for variable-speed gears comprises a pair of endless chains 11, 15 spaced apart by rods 21 engaging the links between the pivots and carrying brackets 23 at their outer ends to support friction elements 25. As shown, the friction pads 25 are slid into undercut grooves in the brackets 23 and are maintained in position by folding the sheet-metal backing 27 to which they are secured over the edge of the bracket as indicated at 28. The brackets have seatings on their rear faces to engage the links and prevent relative rotation. The friction pads may be of leather, or rubber, or of the material known under the Registered Trade Mark " Ferodo."
