Abstract

The production of hydrogen from carbon monoxide and steam is effected under increased pressure (e.g. 6--7 atmospheres) with the aid of a catalyst composed of magnesium oxide and carbon with or without an alkali carbonate. The process may be carried out in two or more stages, the first at 400--500 DEG C. and the last at 400--320 DEG C. Specifications 355,861 and 367,577 are referred to.
