Abstract
417,790. Bricks &c. ; walls. TURNER, R., Heron Creek, St. Mawes, Cornwall. April 12, 1933, No. 10878. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] Bricks for building purposes are provided with grooves in some or all of their faces which are disposed in such a manner that the grooves in the meeting faces of two courses constitute square formations which align with one another to receive mortar or cement for locking the courses together, locking also taking place where the grooves in the vertical faces of adjacent bricks align with one another. In an example, Figs. 2 and 3 which show the bottom and next courses of a brick and a half brick thick wall, the lower course is built up of outer and inner bricks 6 disposed at right angles to one another, the outer brick 6 being followed by a face brick 2 and a tie brick 7 while the inner brick 6 is followed by a face brick 2 and a tie brick 7, the remaining space being filled in by a tie brick 4, the bricks showing by double lines 5 the square formations of grooves, and in the upper course the bricks 6 are disposed in opposite formation with a different arrangement of the bricks 2, 4, and 7, the remaining face being filled in by a half brick 8. Grooved quarter, three-quarter, and bevelled bricks are used where required.
